2 Chronicles 20:5-12 Reads:
5 Jehoshaphat stood before the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the Lord’s temple, in front of the new courtyard. 6 He prayed: “O Lord God of our ancestors, you are the God who lives in heaven and rules over all the kingdoms of the nations. You possess strength and power; no one can stand against you. 7 Our God, you drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and gave it as a permanent possession to the descendants of your friend Abraham. 8 They settled down in it and built in it a temple to honor you, saying, 9 ‘If disaster comes on us in the form of military attack, judgment, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple before you, for you are present in this temple. We will cry out to you for help in our distress, so that you will hear and deliver us.’ 10 Now the Ammonites, Moabites, and men from Mount Seir are coming! When Israel came from the land of Egypt, you did not allow them to invade these lands. They bypassed them and did not destroy them. 11 Look how they are repaying us! They come to drive us out of our allotted land which you assigned to us! 12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless against this huge army that attacks us! We don’t know what we should do; we look to you for help.”
In Jehoshaphat’s prayers for protection and deliverance, he understands quite clearly that his situation is completely overwhelming and his destruction is quite imminent. Jehoshaphat then, as we should too, admits to God that he is completely powerless to deal with the situation that is before him.
You might not be surrounded by the enemy in the same manner that Jehoshaphat was, but each person has their own battles. Today, you find have a boss or coworker that seems bent on your failure. You might have an individual from a previous relationship that is seeking to make life increasingly difficult. There are a million different scenarios in which you could feel the walls closing in on you.
Fret Not! The God of the universe is much bigger than your problems, bigger than those set on your destruction and bigger than anything that could conceivably come before you. Therefore, admit to God that you are in need of Him. Spend time seeking Him and His protection. Keep trusting and know that He loves you and will protect you… not giving you more than you can handle.
Prayer of Protection & Deliverance :
All mighty God in Heaven, I come to you as a broken person in need of your touch today. I would ask that you guide my steps and protect me along the journey. Father, it feels like I am being attacked at every angle and feel as if I am being crushed. I ask that You go before me, deal with my enemies and protect both me and my family. I trust that You are capable and willing to do so and I rest in the wing of Your protection. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, AMEN.
